Prof. Igor Belyaev
Prof. Igor Belyaev, PhD, DrSc, is an internationally recognized expert in radiation physics, radiobiology, and genetic toxicology. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Radiobiology at the Cancer Research Institute, Biomedical Research Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, Slovakia. With an extensive academic career spanning several countries, Prof. Belyaev has held prominent research and professorial positions at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Stockholm University, and the Russian Academy of Sciences. His primary research focuses on the biological and health risks of electromagnetic fields (EMF), mechanisms of DNA damage and repair, and the development of biomarkers to assess individual radiosensitivity in cancer patients. Prof. Belyaev is a highly cited scientist with over 100 CC-indexed publications. He is an active contributor to global scientific policy. He is currently or has previously been a member of: the Working Group of the International EMF Project under the World Health Organization, the Working Group for the evaluation of RF carcinogenicity at the International Agency for Research on Cancer; the Stakeholder Dialogue Group on EMF, Health Systems and Products, Risk Assessment, Health and Consumers within the Directorate-General of the European Commission; the EMF Working Group of the European Academy for Environmental Medicine, the Memorial Fund Committee of the Bioelectromagnetics Society, the Swedish National Committee for Radioscience, the Russian National Committee on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection, and the European Association for Cancer Research.
